“Winter Resonance Workshop – Exploring Sound and Storytelling”

Date: December 7, 2025
Time: 14:00 – 18:00
Location: Juke Box Theatre, 29200 Brest

Description:
“Winter Resonance Workshop” is a hands-on, participatory event designed to introduce participants to the creative intersection of theatre and music. Open to both beginners and experienced performers, this free workshop focuses on exploring how sound, rhythm, and voice can enhance narrative performance and foster collaborative creativity.

The event begins at 14:00 with a welcome session, where facilitators outline the day’s program and provide an introduction to the techniques that will be explored. Participants are guided through exercises in vocalization, movement, and improvisation. These exercises are designed to develop awareness of sound, rhythm, and spatial dynamics, encouraging participants to experiment with expressive storytelling.

At 15:00, the focus shifts to musical exploration. Participants work with both acoustic instruments and digital sound tools to create original compositions that complement theatrical narratives. Facilitators demonstrate techniques for layering sound, using rhythm to support dramatic tension, and integrating musical motifs to enhance character development. Participants are encouraged to collaborate, combining their voices and instruments to produce cohesive soundscapes.

A short break is scheduled at 16:30, allowing attendees to reflect on their creative experiences and engage in informal discussions with facilitators and peers. During this time, participants can explore interactive sound installations set up within the theatre space, providing additional inspiration and encouraging experimentation with unconventional approaches to music and performance.

From 16:45 to 18:00, participants come together to create a collaborative performance. Using the skills and techniques developed earlier in the workshop, small groups develop short pieces that blend spoken word, movement, and music. These pieces are then shared with the entire group, fostering a sense of community, creative expression, and confidence in performance. Facilitators provide feedback, highlighting innovative approaches and encouraging participants to continue exploring their artistic abilities.

The “Winter Resonance Workshop” emphasizes inclusivity, creativity, and the educational potential of theatre and music. By providing an opportunity for hands-on experimentation and collaborative creation, the event allows participants to deepen their understanding of contemporary performance, discover new forms of artistic expression, and connect with others who share their interest in the performing arts.
